Doctor vs Doctor
My companion parrot Guido whom I love very much has a wonderful doctor. Guido
had an unfortunate accident and needed some stitches on his left shoulder. The
accident caused me great worry. That evening I woke up regularly to check in on
Guido making sure his breathing was normal.
To the hospital the next day and his doctor. The concern on the part of the
nurses was evident immediately. I left him at the hospital at 9 AM and returned
to pick him up at 4:30 PM. When I arrived I was warmly greeted and told that
Guido was doing fine.
When I met with Guido’s doctor there seemed to be no rush to get me out of the
office. The doctor answered all of my questions and encouraged me make sure all
of my concerns were addressed. The doctor stayed with me as if Guido were the
only patient she had for the day. This was an extremely comforting attitude to
have. She saw the love that Guido and I had and just observed him interact with
me. When all question were answered, she assured me all was going to be fine
and explained everything that was done to Guido. She invited me to call her if i
had any other questions about Guido.
I had an endoscopy. When prepared for the test and taken into the room for the
test I could hear the Doctor’s voice but not see him and asked that he come
around so that I could see and communicate with him before he began. He asked
why and I said communicating with my doctor was extremely important to me.
The test ended I was groggy he gave me a prescription, said I had Hiatal Hernia,
gastritis and a bacteria stomach infection. He wanted to see me in two weeks.
Two weeks later I was prepared for the doctor seated in a little examining room.
The doctor appeared. He sat on a stool near me asked what medications I was
on, and I wondered he should know that, and proceeded to write another
prescription for me. He said I had a bacteria infection of the stomach. He
then was getting up to leave so I asked how did I get that infection. Oh, he
said you had it since you were a child. Confused and not quick enough for
another question, he vanished. What was this prescriptions going to treat?
Well within 6 days my throat became quite sore, could hardly eat or swallow, my
left jaw ached as if all me teeth were aching, my ears hurt when I swallowed and
was having chest pains early in the morning.
I called my primary doctor and I had a reaction to the 2000mg of amoxacillin and
1000mg of Clarithromycin I was taking daily.
I stopped taking the antibiotics. I knew my body was still in pain. I knew I
had developed a yeast infection which antibiotics cause.
Upon my insistence my primary doctor gave me a prescription for the yeast
infection. After that medication ran out the pain stopped. I wrote a one page
description of the happenings over the past 3 weeks dropped it off to my
gastroenterology doctor telling him of the allergic reaction to the antibiotics
and yeast infection, asking what I need to do to keep myself in good health.
NO RESPONSE.
Oh do I wish my doctor were like Guido’s doctor. My parrot Guido is more
humanely treated by his doctor than I am by my doctors who do deal with humans
and should treat their patients humanely. Why does my parrot Guido get better
medical treatment and care than I do?
